brand facts

  • True invested in The Cotswold Company in 2016 and has transformed the business from a transactional retailer into a premium, truly omni-channel "whole of home" proposition producing timeless, made-to-last furniture and successfully expanding into upholstery, accessories and a more modern aesthetic. Central to this transformation was a full rebrand completed in 2021 and updated in 2026, repositioning the business as an aspirational, design-led brand resonating with customers and underpinning the brand's growing reputation. True supported the founder transition and brought in a strong management team with significant consumer experience. The business has expanded from two showrooms to 15 full-price locations across the UK, with further openings planned, underpinned by a proprietary geo-targeting model developed in-house which has driven significantly increased ROI. Operationally, we have transformed and diversified the supply chain, and invested in two new distribution centres in Lichfield with capacity to support doubling the current size of the business. Further investment in our delivery fleet and delivery hubs has supported the brand's customer-led proposition, reflected in a consistent "Excellent" Trustpilot rating and a market-leading NPS score. This has supported the creation of 250 jobs and driven exceptional financial performance, with revenue growing ~4x and EBITDA ~8x since acquisition. With significant UK whitespace remaining and a clear medium-term growth roadmap, we remain fully committed to the business and its continued trajectory.

Our journey with The Cotswold Company

We acquired a majority stake in the Cotswold Company in October 2016. Through our partnership, we’ve helped the business grow with the implementation of new technologies and the introduction of new talent (including its current Chairman, CEO and CMO). We've enjoyed watching the business go from strength to strength as it opens up more showrooms across the UK.
