True portfolio company and sustainable apparel business The Frugi Group, has appointed Sarah Clark, formerly CCO of luxury British furniture brand OKA, as its new CEO. Sarah will work alongside the existing management team in driving the next stage of growth of the business.
It is with a focus of growing fit-for-the-future and digital-first brands that Sarah was chosen by the Frugi board to continue the accelerated growth of the company.
Most recently Sarah has been CCO of luxury British furniture brand OKA, spearheading the evolution of the brand, the digitisation of the business and its international expansion plans. Prior to this Sarah was CMO and then CCO of iconic cycling brand Rapha for five years, first in Asia and then in London. Sarah’s career started at Procter and Gamble, where over 14 years she ran beauty-care businesses at a local, regional, and global level across Europe, US and Asia Pacific.
The appointment comes at an exciting time for the Frugi Group, which is headquartered in Cornwall and Glasgow, following growth through all three of its brands: Frugi organic cotton apparel, TotsBots reusable nappies, and Bloom & Nora sanitary pads. Momentum in the business has been led by digital growth, with Frugi’s consumer business growing over 50% year-on-year since March, supported by digital-led partners including Zalando and Next.
Following the acquisition and successful integration of the TotsBots and Bloom & Nora brands over a year ago, The Frugi Group has solidified its place as the leading sustainability platform in the juvenile product space. With further investment in its infrastructure the Group is taking proactive steps to ensure that the business can maintain its authentic leadership as an ethical brand.
With Sarah starting on 1st March, the management team can further extend this position and continue to grow the brands both throughout the UK and globally.
Paul Cocker, Co-Founder of True: “We’ve known Sarah for a long time and I am delighted to be welcoming her as CEO of Frugi and to the wider True team. Frugi has more than doubled in size since we acquired the business in 2018, and the future opportunity is increasingly apparent as the shift towards digital accelerates and consumers increasingly look for brands with genuinely sustainable credentials. Sarah’s vast experience in growing direct-to-consumer, digital brands will be a tremendous asset for the business as we execute on that opportunity in the years ahead.”
Sarah Clark: “I’m delighted to join the passionate team at Frugi. Our mission is at the heart of everything that matters to consumers right now – original children’s products that enable quality family time, along with a true sense of purpose to be planet-positive in our approach. This is an exciting time for the brand and the business, in which we can make a real difference for our broader global communities.”
